The Tokyo Traveler - Off The Beaten Path

7:10 to Tokyo’s very own Shane Sakata, whose most recent 7:10 article expounded upon the virtues of being a garbage connoisseur in Japan, usually writes a different kind of piece at her main website, The Tokyo Traveler, which is designed for those wishing to travel in the Tokyo area. What does she write about, you ask? Well, she often writes about the Tokyo that lies off the beaten path and she tries to, as she puts it, “cover a mix of things and include a historical or educational perspective wherever I can.”

Some of her recent pieces include: a guide on how to use the often confusing subway system in Tokyo, Sumo wrestling, and a recent Japanese archery event.
Recently, while visiting The Tokyo Traveler website I learned that a restaurant renowned for its hamburgers and sandwiches is only a 20-minute train ride from where I live, and now I plan to visit that restaurant during the upcoming Golden Week.
So, whether you’re out to do a little sightseeing in Tokyo, looking for a good restaurant or event, or you just want to learn a little something about the local history or culture, head over to The Tokyo Traveler and take in a little of where Shane has been and what she has seen recently.
