Softbank Makes Deal To Sell iPhones In Japan

By billywest • May 26th, 2008 • Category: Japan News

Softbank has become the first to strike a deal to sell iPhones in Japan this year, much to the chagrin of DoCoMo. iPhones have been hugely popular outside Japan and given the popularity of iPods in Japan, the iPhone promises to be a big seller here. KDDI has said it’s not interested in selling iPhones, but since AU’s phones suck pretty bad anway, no one really cares about their statement.

Get Yourself A Pack O’ Smokes, Junior… And Pick Me One Up While You’re At it
This Taspo thing will tear families apart if this keeps up. I mean, what is this country coming to? This kid would’ve been able get his smokes peacefully, without notice if the folks at the Tobacco Institute of Japan hadn’t gone and created that damned Taspo. It’s as if you need an IC card for everything in Japan now. Soon, you’ll need IC in your health insurance card just to get into a hospital.

Research Shows That Smoking And Drinking Sake Worse For Health Than Smoking Only
Shocking news here. A survey has revealed that smokers who drink more than 180mL of Sake each day are almost 2 times more likely to develop lung cancer than non-drinking smokers, or those that only drink occasionally. Apparently, enzymes in the sake increase the activity of cancer-causing agents contained in cigarette smoke.
Well, I guess that means that smoking and drinking is just not good for you. Who knew?

Nagano Judo Teacher Slams 11-Year-Old Boy - Boy Hospitalized
A 6th-grader was thrown by his judo teacher and landed on his head, sustaining serious injuries. Initially, the boy just complained that he felt bad, but eventually had to be taken to a local hospital where he lost consciousness Tuesday. The boy remains unconscious in the hospital.
There isn’t any official word on what became of the judo instructor, but we can only hope he still isn’t in the dojo tossing schoolkids around for practice.

75-year-old Japanese man reaches summit of Mt. Everest

Tokyo man claims to have murdered a woman, cut up her body, and flushed her remains down the toilet
33-year-old Takanori Hoshijima said he lay in wait to rape 23-year-old Rurika Tojo, then killed her, dismembered her body, and flushed the remains down the toilet. Police are investigating the case of the missing woman now.
If he really did what he says he did, I can only wish the same thing be done to him, while he’s still awake and aware.

  2. Without more information on this, I will assume it was just a fluke accident. These can happen in activities like this whether it is judo practice or other sporting activities.
